Web3 infrastructure startup iExec has some big plans in store for the rest of the year, with its ambitious 2025 roadmap outlining plans to expand the utility of its native token RLC, accelerate technological development and become a foundation for “Trusted AI” applications.
iExec is an intriguing project that sees itself as a marketplace for decentralized cloud computing resources. It’s sort of similar to something like Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud, but rather than house its own vast data center farms, it relies on numerous independent nodes owned by the community, which are used for off-chain blockchain application computing.
It’s primarily targeting decentralized application developers, which need access to vastly more computing power than the blockchains they build on can provide. If an Ethereum-based dApp wants to scale to support hundreds of thousands of users, it’s going to need access to much more computing power than what’s provided by the Ethereum Virtual Machine. If everything blockchain dApp relied on the EVM alone, it would mess up latency and scalability to such an extent that the network would likely become useless.
iExec provides an alternative with its network of decentralized computing resources, and its roadmap suggests that it has big plans to build on its progress thus far, particularly in the realm of blockchain AI.
One of its main priorities in 2025 will be to expand its nascent Trusted AI framework, which leverages Intel’s Trusted Domain Extensions and Software Guard Extensions technologies. The company plans to increase its TDX workerpool availability to ensure it can cater to the growing demands of the decentralized AI ecosystem, while its AiExec initiative will launch a new tool for building Trusted AI applications called the iApp Generator. The company also cites its strengthened ties with Intel, which it says will enable it to boost the infrastructure needed for privacy-preserving AI.

Another key area of focus for iExec is its native token RLC. It’s looking to make the token more accessible through collaborations with new centralized exchange platforms and more incentives for liquidity providers on decentralized exchange platforms, in order to support anticipated growth in trading volumes.
In addition, the company is looking to scale its iExec Voucher mechanism, which is currently in closed beta, to lock more RLC within its ecosystem by expanding its utility so developers can use it to pay for computing resources.
“We have a clear focus on expanding access to our technology and increasing RLC’s value within a growing ecosystem,” said iExec Chief Executive Gilles Fedak. “This roadmap reflects our commitment to developers, users, and partners, and being at the forefront of emerging trends.”
In terms of technology advances, iExec has a lot on its plate with plans to deploy more TEE-enabled graphics processing units for confidential AI applications and scale the iApp Generator to support private communications for privacy-focused apps. Another innovation is “Datapools”, which will support multi-dataset tasks in order to reduce network congestion and lower costs for developers.
iExec’s researchers will double down on their research into Bellecour, a sidechain project that aims to increase its network’s scale, as well as their Layer-2 initiatives. There will also be a renewed focus on expanding Ethereum interoperability to support new use cases for RLC, and the team will continue to optimize iExec’s PoCo consensus mechanism to improve its performance.
In the meantime, iExec will look to engage in more collaborations and strategic partnerships with the decentralized computing, AI and DePIN industries, especially with regards to areas such as TEEs, GPUs and storage. These efforts are intended to drive adoption and scale up the number of TEE machines on the iExec network.
iExec also wants to renew its highly successful $10 million startup competition in collaboration with Start in Block, incentivizing developers to build on its network, while reinforcing its ties with the likes of Nvidia and the Confidential Computing Consortium, which are two of its most important partners. By renewing the program, iExec hopes to unlock yet more utility for RLC.
Finally, iExec also provided an update on its marketing strategy, saying it intends to carry out targeted advertising campaigns while expanding its community outreach. One of its most promising initiatives will be the collaboration with CoinMarketCap, where it will host various live sessions, building on its 1.3-million user Revolut campaign last year.
The community can look forward to more rewards programs that aim to incentivize engagement, and iExec will be gracing some of this year’s top crypto events with its presence, including Token2049, ETHDenver, Consensus Hong Kong, ETHCC and Devconnect.
